Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated as the birthday of
Lord Ganesha in the month of Bhadrapada on the
4th day of shukla paksha(bright fortnight). The
celebration of festival was started by Lokamanya
AsBala Gangadhara Tilak, as a means to unite Hindus
all over India.The festival is at its most elaborate
in Maharashtra. Gajasura, the demon was killed
by Ganapathi, the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati.
With his broken tusk, Ganesha pens down the
Mahabharata, the epic dictated non-stop by sage
Vyasa. As per rituals 21 modakas are offered to
the Lord Ganesha. Marigold, the saffron yellow
flower named Marigold is Ganesha’s favourite flower.
