1.As per Hindu mythology, moon had married

all the 27 daughters of King Dakshan who are

the 27 nakshatras(stars) in the sky. Moon loved

only Rohini nakshatra in spite of repeated requests

to Moon by the King. Since Moon didnot change

his nature, King Dakshan got angry and cursed

Moon, causing it to wane in size.

4.Rohini 5.Mrigashira 6.Ardra 7.Punarvasu 8.Pushya

3.Stephen Hawking is known for his contributions

to the fields of cosmology, general relativity and

quantum gravity especially in the context of black

holes. Black holes radiate energy known as Hawking

radiation.

4.Eight planets in the solar system are-Mercury, Venus,

Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

The four inner solar system planets (Mercury,Venus,

Earth and Mars) fall under the category of Terrestrial

planets.Jupiter and Saturn are gas giants(giant planets

are composed of hydrogen and helium) while Uranus

and Neptune are the ice giants (containing mainly elements

heavier than hydrogen and helium).

Pluto was demoted from its planetary system in 2006.

Dwarf planets are Pluto, Ceres, Eris, Haumea and Makemake.

2003 UB 313 resides in an orbit round the sun beyond Neptune.

It  is now called Eris and is recognized as a dwarf planet.

Charon is the largest of Pluto’s moons. Pluto-Charon is our

solar system’s only known double planetary system.

structure of DNA on 28 February 1953.

7.The first steam locomotive made by Richard Trevithick,

first operated on 21 February 1804, 3 years after the road

locomotive he made in 1801.

8.John Greenough of Washington DC, patented a

sewing machine with a stitch forming mechanism

on 21 February 1842.

9.The Julian calendar day Thursday 4, October 1582 was

followed by the Ist day of the Gregorian calendar-Friday

15 October 1582.
