8.The first Tulu-English dictionary was composed by Reverend G.Kammerer(who died in 1858) which contained about 2,000 words.Rev.Manner took up the task of completing this work. He prepared a Tulu-English Dictionary of about 18,000 words and this was published in 1888 with the financial support of the Madras Government.
